Just been looking at suitable sites for a ride tommorrow around Leeds. living with easy access of the M1/M62 thought i might try Wharncliffe near Sheffield as multimap states its only 35 mins away

Anyone have any experience of the site/ how difficult are the trails

Is the XC trail open the website i was on states it was under construction, but dont know how old this info was.

Theres an orienteering race on at Wharncliffe/Greno woods, and people are being asked to stay away if possible (MTBers do this to walkers on a regular basis). Sorry!

The XC route is hit and miss and short and building stopped ages ago.The old XC(Black) route is better but overgrown and not waymarked anymore. There's loads of ST but it's hard to find if you've not been. The DHs are mad 8) and and not way-marked so you could ride past them and miss them if it's quiet.

shame, must be an old article on the web. sounded quite good back to trawling sites for a new route

I ride Wharncliffe now and then !

I know all the tracks and could get you to all the places that you might otherwise miss !

There are some new Off Piste runs that will test every skill in your armoury,
its not a particularly gruelling slog or an epic but you know you have ridden it when ur done ur done !

I,m in the Peaks this Sunday 15th May, but will be riding next week one day and next weekend.

Let me know if you are free and fancy some one to ride with ?

Just walked the dog through both woods, the event looks like it's going to be big, but it's only for today. Lots of orienteers about already, warming up. :D

might give it a go in a few weeks, went to Stainburn just outside Otley and had a blast first time ive been excellent tripout if a bit short, but then you can do the runs a few times, getting back to the tops a killer tho, legs still ache now

really enjoyed it even with quite a big fall
