Hi people,
I'm looking to purcahse a bike repair stand.
Criteria must be that its foldable for storage, can comfortably hold a bike, with and without wheels on it to allow for repairing, cleaning etc etc
I haven't got a massive budget for this, but would appreciate peoples recommendations on a good stand that is solid, reliable and also able to hold either a road, cyclocross or tri bike.
Thanks,
Justin.

It's spot on IMO and the quality is amazing for that price. The picture doesn't do it justice. 10/10 in Cycling Pus too0 -

Bought it earlier this year and use it regularly (although not at the moment due to bust arm). It also gets used by my standless mates too.0 -
Thanks all, a ribble stand has been ordered0

+2 for the Ribble one. Got mine for £50. It's pretty damn hefty; the pictures really don't do it justice.
Just make sure you don't inadvertently clamp your finger to the bike frame with it. I can tell you that it hurts. A lot. And bleeds.
But keep an eye on the self-tapping screws that secure the clamp head to the top of the upright; I've lost one of mine0 -
It depends how much fettling you are going to do on your bike. Either a normal tripod affair or something which holds the BB area you are working on.0

everyone has their price limit, however if you can afford it go for an Ulitmate Feedback or Topeak. these are at least double in price. However you will only own one bike stand and it will last for years, and you will quickly forget about the initial cost, so get a good one. The whole purpose is to make repairs a pleasure. Three leg stands are much more stable.
I have an Ultimate and I would guess I have it in use at least once a week for the last 3 years, faultless. What do I miss on it, I would like a lever clamp to make it easier when lifting a bike up, digital scale would be great and the little store box in the arm like on the Topeak.
But generally excellent, the best bit of bike kit you can invest in.

I'd also recommend the Ribble stand - excellant value for money and works well with both my road and moutain bikes0

Another reccomemdation for the ribble stand. Bought one a coupe of weeks ago and its fantastic for the price.
Its made cleaning, maintance and tweaking so much easier.
Yesdaerday i stripped my allez for a full clean and fettle of the front derallier and it would have been impossible without the stand.0 -

I've had this model for couple of years. Very sturdy indeed, even with the weight of an mtb clamped in. The variable height means it's great for cleaning and indexing gears without straining your back, but useful to hold the bike whilst you adjust saddles or swap bar tape etc.
The clamp at the top rotates so you can hold a sloping top tube bike whilst keeping the bike horizontal. I reckon mine costa few quid more that the current price, what a bargain it is.0 -
if your on a really tight budget I've found my car rack doubles up as a really good maintenance stand.
its similar to this one from halfords

though i think i picked mine up from wilkinsons for about £15,
you can mount it on your back/shed door or on your garden fence and it does a perfectly adequate job.0 -
Bought the £50 Ribble one and I am absolutely amazed & surprised with it - it's really hefty & beefy - not the little weedy thing I was expecting!
I can securely clamp my bike at ANY angle, and even up at chest height so I can work on it at a standing position.
VERY impressed - can't see how a "better" / more expensive one could be any better.0
