New Tyres

I know there are quite a few thread's re. new tyres but I can't seem to see a definate answer to what I'm looking for.

Got ready to go out on Monday night and noticed I had a rear puncture from the weekend - must have been picked up just as getting home or a slow puncture. Anyway, repair innertube, inflate and notice a split/cut in my tyre about 5mm wide just above the tyre wall. When fully inflated the cut is open exposing a little of the innertube. I risked it on Tuesday but figured it'll either get worse or puncture.

The current tyre's are Continental Ultra Sport - I was planning on upgrading soon anyway as the came as standard with the bike.

I do about 100 - 150 miles per week, not racing but looking for a mixture of good performance with some puncture resistance, was also thinking 25c as have heard about better comfort and rolling resistance.

Budget isn't a problem for the correct tyre's. Any suggestions?

I'd go for Conti 4 Seasons or maybe GP4000s
Been riding a set daily for past 18 months and only punctures I've had have been cause my rim tape was knackered.
As close to a race tyre as I think it's possible to get but a more hard wearing I'd say.

Sure other folk will say Michelin or Vittoria but the Conti's are good

tried my first pair of schwalbe ultremo's on wed eve, was using continental ultra race until then, wasn't expecting to notice any difference, but was very suprised, 100g a tyre lighter and although i had them at 120psi, they were far more comfortable than any other tyre i've ridden

I am tempted by these as have heard a lot of good things BUT have also heard they aren't the greatest for punctures.

    agreed.
totally transformed my allez sport. although that might have been me trying to justify them because of the cost...

either way, to me it seemed like money well spend, and i love them!

I'd second the 4 Seasons in 25mm. Not looked back one I fitted them and been very reliable. The GP4000s are a bit harsher in their 23 mm form and not so good over Winter but should be fine in Summer.

i guess there's a trade off for puncture protection, not had them long enough to have puncture experience as yet as far as the 3 other jobs they're supposed to do, grip, rolling and comfort 10/10 so far

Not commuting, soley for training but can't be chewed stopping every 100k having to replace innertube.

Have read a lot of reviews on the Ultermo's and only a few bad re. punctures - but then reading the Conti GP4000 sound like they pretty quick with some resistance.
