Wonder if anyone can advise on the best BMX out of these...limited to buying from Halfords as I have £300 in gift cards.

VooDoo Nzumbi BMX Bike 2011

GT Tour BMX 09

Apart from the GT being a bit heavier what makes the VOODOO a better bike as I know nothing about BMX apart from cro mo frame and forks are a must....son is only 9, but I'd like to future proof for when he wants to rag it a bit

    Which one does he prefer?

(I'm serious - gotta love the bike).

My guess is the GT is hi-tensile? So, heavier steel. (Perhaps look on GT's website). The VooDoo states ChroMo - so lighter and stronger.

Personally, I find pretty-much any VooDoo way cool.

He doesn't know he's getting one as it's a suprise.

I think the voodoo Nzumbi looks cool and think he will to, but spec wise I'm just not sure whats the best for the money....I'm also confused as the cheapest voodoo bmx is lighter than the 2 superior (more expensive) models.

Here are all 3 voodoo, can someone please tell me what makes the Ogun better than the Nzumbi and Legba.

    Legba £229 13.1kg

    Nzumbi £259 13.8kg

    Ogun £299 13.8kg

I would go for the Legba because it's the lightest (13.1kg). The other Voodoo bikes are coming in at 13.8kg and the GT is 15kg, those differences will all be a lot for a 9yo.

Also, frankly, due to lower cost, you'll be a bit less gutted if the Legba gets thrashed or stolen, compared to the others. Don't think too long term, if your DS really loves freestyle BMX he'll want a much better steed (Haro, Mongoose, Peculiar-sounding-Hawaiian-name brand) in the long run. This is just something to fart about with, for next 2-4 yrs.

It appears that the Legba is lighter because it doesn't come with the pegs like the two more expensive models do.

Don't know if you're still looking, but just wanted to let you know that Halfords can order you any bike you want from any manufacturer. You aren't just limited to what they stock. At least that's what I've read somewhere.

I thought that was only applicable to the Cycle to work scheme..?

I'd be interested if anyone has information on this for general bike purchase.

Just back to give an update....I scrapped the Voodoo Idea as I thought them to be to heavy for my young lad .... I was nearly going to buy him the Wethepaeople Versus @£400 when I saw the better wtp Trust on offer for £375 which I grabbed in an instant before the price went back up....really chuffed with the purchase, it's totally over speck'd for a 9yr old. but wont need upgrading for the foreseeable future.
