Managed my first 100 kilometres yesterday :D Was planning a 55 mile route but when I came to a junction about 3/4 of the way through I decided I was feeling ok so extended the ride and ended up doing 62 miles. Was absolutely knackered for the last few miles though and was glad to get home. Felt pretty chuffed with myself though as my previous longest ride was 40 miles.

According to my computer I did it in just over 4 hours resulting in an average speed of just over 15mph. However this does not account for a couple of snack stops and the full time was 4 hours 20 mins giving an avarage of 14.3 mph.

This has given me more confidence for the 100km Dartmoor classic sportive that I have signed up for at the end of June and will hopefully improve on the time slightly...

  • Well done JST. Did my first 50-miler last weekend and the 100k will be my next target.
Can I ask what foods you took onboard during the ride & how much liquid do you reckon you consumed?

Thanks... I went after breakfast for which I had Weetabix, toast n jam, and two bananas. Then during the ride I ate three Kellog's Elevenses (after reading another post on here about energy bars) and drank two bottles of water with Nuun tabs in. Think I couldhave done with more water possibly and next time I think I will refill one bottle during the ride.

    Good luck with yours :)
