105 Shifters?

Hi All
I am thinking of getting some 105 shifters to replace my current Sora jobbies. I would like the 5700 models so the cables are hidden but am concerned that every where I look at them it says they have to be used with 5700 brakes and front mech (or Ultegra 6700?). Trouble is, I have no name brake callipers and a Sora front mech and can't afford to change them yet especially as i'll have to get a 10sp casette.
So, will the 5700 105 shifters be OK with my brake callipers and front mech? (I already have a 5700 rear mech)

I've just replaced my 5600 105 groupset with a 5700. I still have the old groupset in the shed.
IIRC the brake calipers and front mech are still in good working order, and should work no problem with the 5700 shifters and rear mech you have.
PM me if you're interested - it'll only cost you the postage

what's the difference (practically & technically) between the 105-5600 and -5700's?0

The compatibility will be fine, only real difference is weight and no cables0

Sounds like Shimano are trying to get you to buy more than you need! I did read, though, that the brakes had a slightly different pull ratio but I can't imagine it would be like using V Brake levers with old style canti's on an MTB?0
