Me and my work are doing this ride this summer. Just signed up for a road bike on the cycle scheme and did my first commute (on a borrowed bike) last week. The team at the company have done it for the last 2 years and by all accounts it's a good day.0

Pearson 50 - is everyone doing the 150K or the 75K. I haven't signed up yet as I had to get the ok from my Dr, but he says it's alright. This would be my first ride of that distance, any tips from the more experienced riders? I'll be stocking up on snack food for the way, and spare tubes/ tyres/ pump etc - anything else?0

I did the 150km last year. As far as routes go, it isn't too tough as there aren't any major climbs, other than Ditchling Beacon. As long as you keep yourself well hydrated (last year it was one of the hottest days of the year to that point) and well fuelled you will be fine. The food station was very well stocked with cakes, fruit, flapjacks and I understand there will be a second feed station this year. As for all rides you do, you should bring spare tubes/pump and mini-tool as a minimum.0

I'm doing the 150. I think the website says there are feed stations doesn't it? So I wouldn't have thought you would have needed to bring much food along. I'll probably just bring some energy drink with me, although some sportives supply that too. I would definitely bring a tube or 2 and a punc repair kit as there'll be no support vehicles!Do not write below this line. Office use only.0 -
I'm doing the 150 also. I'll be taking my own energy drink tablets and now I've finally found someone selling Gu gels on eBay in the UK a good stock of them too.
HH - there is a group of 4 of us from work doing it, I don't think we will be going very quick but hopefully we will bump into you at some point.0 -

Yeah I'm doing it with someone from work and a couple of others... Not sure how quick we'll be, some of us are fitter than others, not sure whether we'll stick together or just do it and meet at the end.... Look out for me! I'll be wearing lycra of some description and riding a black carbon 2007 Focus Cayo with Shimano RS80 wheels. I'm about 6'3" tall and fairly slimDo not write below this line. Office use only.0 -

Oh yes, of course! We were talking at the bar at 1 point... Sorry, what with real names and screen names it's hard to remember who's who! I'll look out for you...Do not write below this line. Office use only.0
