Hi All

Just joined and have been riding a few weeks on my first road bike.

Looking to follow a training plan for an olympic tri and I hve a question on the bike section.

One of the sessions states ride with "low gearing, high rpm" does this mean in the big ring?

sorry for stupid question?

Low gear is a bigger back ring or smaller front one... (easier)

with high "cadence" - or spin fast!

If you mean big ring at the front then NO. it means keep a high cadence i.e high revolutions. If you want sprint tri training advice there is a Tri forum on here.

Otherwise the Guru is Joe Beer. Well documented and well published both on open forums and in press. (Quick google search will find plenty of stuff by Joe.)

My own personal advice and experience say join your nearest Tri/ Duathlon club

The hardest adaption for me being a strong cyclist has been swimming and you need to do training that involves coming off the bike and straight into a run. (Continious)

Not only does this teach good transitions but the emphasis on the recruitment of different muscle groups and nervous inervention required between cycling and running can come as a big shock when done as a continious activity rather than a periodised one.

Any way check out Joe Beer
