Hi , we're going to Glentress at the weekend, and are looking for a good 5+ hour ride. Most people seem to rate the red over the black for enjoyment, but talking to a guy at The Hub, seemed to only be a couple of hours ride.

Any suggestions much appreciated, i know a while ago someone posted a route incorporating bits of all the routes, but cann't find the link anymore.

Planning Innerleithen red for the Sunday.

Cheers Rob

    what we did last month was to head up the red to "Spooky Wood" where we ran that section and the "Super-G", then we head back up the fireroad to Spooky wood climb, but instead of cutting right to spooky wood we carried straight on up the fireroad and up to the start of the boundary trail where we picked up teh black route and rode that all the way back down to the car park, 2 of us then headed back up to the buzzards nest car park and picked up teh blue trail at post marker #30 and ran that back down to the lower car park... worth a look see at the trail map,, 8)

    You can spend 5 hours easily at GT. Do the black first, roughly 3 hours at a reasonable pace with stops, have a cuppa & some lunch down at the Hub, then head back up and do the red route, with a ride back up to finish off on the blue back to the car park.

    A route I have done a few times;

    Start out on the Black route, follow all the way to Redemption. On Redemption there is a short cut up onto the Blue at post 27(I think)
    Follow forest road and then up to Spooky Wood. Down Spooky..
    Turn left at the end of Spooky into Betty Blue.
    You then pick up the road again and head down the Red/Hit Squad Hill, post 44.
    Follow the Red all the way back to where you can take the trail back up to the skills/jump park and blast down Electric Blue :lol:
    There is a new Bermy bit on the Blue to try but I am not sure where that fits in on the trail

    Coffe & cakes and head back out again.
    If the cafe is very busy there is a good takeaway shop in Peebles on the left as you head in from the Trailhead. Has got limited seating but is gvfm :wink:

  • Whatever happens, do not miss the section of blue from the jump park down on your last run. It is not tech but it is probably the most fun section there. Make sure you leave a good space before you and any kiddies in front of you - take it fast and enjoy the jumps!

    +1

    That is the new blue section called 'Berm Baby Berm'. As the name suggest, it's berm-tastic and you can carry huge amounts of speed around the corners. Excellent fun and worth the climb back up from the red or black, just to hit the blue from there all the way back down to the car park again.
