This looks good for the money X5 which I prefer, only thing no carbon fork but for £300 can't expect everything

Carrera Gryphon Disc Spec

What alternatives are there? Also medium 56cm sounds quite big, I ride 54cm road bikes. Would a 2cm larger frame be a problem?
Say... That's a nice bike..

Its a really good bike for the money, very quick and reasonbly light for a hybrid (I actually only paid £250 for a display model plus £35 for the 3 year service plan) I got one about 18 months ago for commuting 20 odd miles per day. Im 5' 8" and got the medium (my road bike is also a 54") and the 56" is fine.

The bike has taken its fair share of punishment but has been serviced and looked after (about 4000 miles so far) and the only problem I have had is with the rear wheel, changed the tyres to puncture resistant ones and the spokes are gash, they keep snapping (4 so far) so am just about to replace them all for stainless ones. Other than that, cant complain for the money

My Dad and my Sister both have the Boardman equivalent, and they both love them. A bit more money, but very nice bikes ! The spec of the Boardman is slightly better, and the brakes (Avid BB5) are much better. The Boardman is a nice light bike as well.

You know the usual advice, try (or at least sit on them) both and see which is is best for you. this shouldn't be an issue as they're both sold by Halfods.

Halfords have only got demo models, but sheer luck spotted bike shop on a corner, asked for flat bar road bike and he's got Carrera Gryphon disc!

Is a large though, on tip toes probably 4" of exposed seat post, reach seems fine. I think from my riding position bars were in front of the hub.

I'll have a proper sit tomorrow, I don't think my goolies are resting on the top tube when standing upright.

edit must have been a medium according to halfords large is 60cm. medium is 56.

Given the current similar spec Boardman will set you back at lest twice that, it is indeed a bargain!
