conscious?

Right then crudites, need some advice so i dont go to hell!!!
I recently went to a reclaimers yeard and bought a table and they let me use their workshop and tools to clean it up, sand it back etc.
At the same time i bought the table i enquired about 2 pine benches to match the table, 5ft in length, 18" deep with turned legs. The qouted £100 per bench and we agreed by way of a manly hand shake and paid £200 and have a receipt.
I call today and the benches are in and the lady on the phone says we have been greatly under charged for them but she understands a deal was made, but the benches should go for £150 each, at least and the joiner/carpenter who made them will be out of pocket.
Now do i go, collect the benches and walk away run as i have paid price agreed with a handshake? or do i pay a little extra (like £20 per bench) as the carpenter will apparently be out of pocket?
This is probably the wrong place to ask a question about conscious, but looking for real opinions on this

You should go back with a Lime, some string, and a jar of liver. After you've finished with that, the woman on the phone (and possibly the carpenter) should be left in a ditch with heads backwards.
Personally, I'd not be paying any extra. Not only did they quote you the wrong price, but it seems nobody has noticed until now, so it can't be that much of a big deal to them.
That and the fact I'm a tight bastard.
It's their responsibility to ensure they're invoicing clients the right amount.
Alternatively, for good karma, and if you believe the job is worth it, you could maybe meet them half way.0 -
Going to see what thewy are like when i get there, its the karma thing, i need to man up a bit and stop being a bit soft i think!
If it were the bike shop i'd tell em to stick it so this should be no different!0 -
Either way, a man is about to give you his wood, and you'll be paying him to do it.0

I know, I'm sorely disappointed with just how ghey this forum has become lately.
Clearly everyone was too busy braiding each others hair to point out the obvious.0 -
Mr Angry - take the table back, tell them to stick it up their obvious, demand your money back and tell the carpenter to get a real job, whilst swearing as much as possible and waving your tackle about. Also take some petrol, rags and matches as I hear they go well with timber products.
Mr Nice - pay the extra £100 in the knowledge that your smug demeanour and outright ownership of good karma means that if they've stiffed you the carpenter will have an accident involving power tools and fingers, whilst the woman on the phone will never be happy and will never be anything other than an office minion.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -

Well if you have paid and a deal was done then i'd say just collect them and think no more about it. It's their fault that they charged you wrong and it should be them paying the carpenter, not you. Sounds a bit mean but its not your fault.
Have the shop asked for more money or where they just trying to guilt trip you?Bikes are OK, I guess... :-)
