Out of interest, what happened to the Wolf Ridge (I have an 08 one)?

the dropouts never quite tightened up enough so there was always a bit of play in them. sent it back an they said the holes the bolts go through had been machined out slightly too much...0

I see, thought it would have been unusual for the frame to have snapped or cracked as they are bullet proof0

yeah, think you'd have to try quite hard to crack one. brilliant bikes!0

Hi,
I had the Wolfridge 6.8 2009 untill some Tosser stole it and all I can say is it was fantastic !. The suspension worked so well it soaked up everything I could throw at it. Only gripe and its a small one, the front wheel would come up on the uphill stuff (even with fork lowered).
I got myself the Attack Trail 6.8 2010 as a replacent and WOW what a bike awsome going down with the extra travel itsoaks it all up and gets better the harder you ride and I am no pro far from it, sure gets me out of trouble when needed. When going up the front stays down and thats without adjustable forks?, I was shocked as its got more travel but climbs better, its down to the seat post angle Ive been told. I was the same as you ref the Monarch rear shock, but dont worry it works great loads of adjustment and has been set up to match the bike and its suspension. No need to spend your cash mate read the reviews its a good bit of kit.
Go and ride it mate you wont be disapointed, nice to see Marin having fab customer service. gives me piece of mind.

From memory, each year's Attack trail was identical in geometry to the wolf ridge, but with a longer fork. (until the attack trail went all "longer travel"!)
What I mean is, if you stuck a 160mm fork on a wilf ridge, you basically had an Attack Trail, minus the chainguide mounts, or the hammerschmidt mounts or whatever they were0 -
ive got the 6.7 attack trail. maybe the monarch 2.1 is firmer than the 4.2? feels like the rp23 with propedal on firm.... to me it actually feels like it has less travel than the wolf ridge.0

Hmm, it might well be the shock. I know that Fox and RS forks have very different feeling damping to them, not sure about the shocks though, I've never ridden an RS one.0
