Right guys I have been commuting 13 miles for a month now, I ride a mountain bike with big mountain bike tyres! It's starting to be painful watching these tyres perform on Tarmac. My whole commute is on roads so I am looking for some low rolling resistance tyres that have good puncture protection . I have had a look on a few websites but can't seem to find any size 26 x 2.10! Any recommendations ?
If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on.

  • Firsly you don't need such wide tyres for the road 1.5 -1.75 is fine.

For puncture resistance one of the versions of Schwebe Marathon.

The Schwalbes are tough, but pricey. I have some Continental Double Fighters on my Spesh (1.9 size) and they are tough. I got mine from Halfords for about £18 each. Used them last year to tow a trailer from Calais to Amsterdam and back without a puncture! They also roll really well, and if you ever go off road they still have some grip.

These are really good, used for a couple of years:

Wide enough if you are just on the road.

Some of the narrower tyres are a bit loose on some MTB rims though.
