Hi folks,
Buying first road bike,
Live in very rural area, limited options with local shop,
Was advised the Merida 93 was a good bike for my budget(£900) by shop owner
Other options were Ridley Eos and Trek 1.5......
Anyone on here have anything to say good or bad about quality of Merida,
All feedback welcome,
Regards,
Garrett.............

Merida is a huge manufacturer although I think most of their bikes are sold under different names. IIRC they used to make most of the aluminium bikes, and maybe even many of the carbon bikes for Specialized so they should be OK.

Merida are a very well respected Taiwanese firm. They tend to be good spec for the money.

However, for similar money you can get much better specced bikes online...

Merida are the second biggest bike manufacturer in the world and 49% owner of Specialized.

Their own name bikes are generally a fair percentage better spec'd than Spesh.

    Thanks for that,
Haven't confidence to buy online, lack of knowledge, this will be my first road bike,
Also, I am between frame sizes - 182cm - so 56cm or 58cm, so I would not know which size frame to order
LBS will be doing any servicing on the bike so would like to buy from them so i have some comeback if things need tweaked etc.....

Thanks for all who replied so far,
I think I initially felt confident/safer with the big brand names like Trek and Ridley
Now have confidence to give the Merida 93 some serious consideration.......
Seems to have as good a spec as the Ridley Eos and Trek 1.5..........
Going now to have look at them again in LBS...............
