Hi All
I ride with a backpack, hate the other bags. I have a Newfeel 20L with laptop compartment. Need something a bit bigger upto 30L. What are you using?

I just use a cheapy 50 litre rucksack from Decathlon... Does me fine, don't need any fancy cycling specific pack

  • I use a 35 litre x-ERT performance by regatta it's hydration compatible and has a zipped away raincover . It was 29 quid

What a want is something thats breathable - I find I am sweating a lot with the current backpack when I wear a soft shell. It's still cold in the mornings

  • The backpack I mentioned has a mesh/metal cage so there is a gap between you and the bag. This can be adjusted to enhance airflow

Crumpler messenger style bag. get the strap at a decent length and it sits below the likely sweaty area of your back. superior to a rucksack IMHO

The Crumpler bags were designed by bike couriers in the heat of Western Australia (I think), they are brilliant for cycling, even carrying quite a heavy load. Of course panniers are a better option still, but maybe don't look as kool...

Do you really need to take the laptop back and forth every day ?

I only use my Deuter 10L [1] one day a week - on "changeover day"
The other four days everything is in my jersey pockets.

    [1]shirts, pants and socks.

Kathmandhu for me, but I've stopped riding with the laptop every day - the strain on my lower back was beginning to take its toll.

Whitestar -try one , you'll soon be a believer.

Conjoy - probably right re panniers re effectiveness and less coolness, also damned expensive option on a Brompton.

That looks really good actually, love the vent design. The helment features on backpacks are a waste of time for me I never use them personally

I use a courier bag I got out of Halfords for a tenner on sale.

Used to use a backpack, the courier bag is far more comfortable and less sweaty. It has a stabilisation strap so it doesn't move around, but it wouldn't be stable enough for riding off road.

I have had a browse around the web and really like the regatta x-ert. I would love to actually see one. Doubt it would have a laptop compartment, but it looks capable.
