brakepad advice

im after a decent 'budget' set of brakepads, probably looking around £20 for a full set of front and rear. at the moment ive just got the standard set that came with my tektro r350, the calipers themselves are pretty good and clamp on well but the pads i feel are letting them down a bit.
anyone got any suggestions ? or if im going to notice a huge difference by goign up a fiver or so, what then ??
