I don't think my current routine of cup of tea with buiscuits can be ideal...

Depends on the ride aswell ie distance, intensity
I think you will find alot of variation aswell as its a personal thing
For me today after 200k it was recovery drink, protein shake soon after returning then some chicken pasta. Followed by water to help me rehydrate0 -
Pint of water, strong coffee and toast with peanut butter and strawberry jam.0

Beer, shower and a sh#g. Not necessarily in that order - though the beer should always be first.0

Bottle of peroni and watching the Giro on the sofa after today's 75 hilly miles0

Depends on what bike I'm riding, weather conditions etc.
mtb wet muddy ride, drop off backpack, put coffee on, hose bike, lube bike, shower, coffee and then cake, rice, pasta, sardines etc.
mtb dry ride, forget the hosing, maybe light lube, then same as above.
road bike, same as for wet mtb and dry mtb, maybe less cake.--
Burls Ti Tourer for Tarmac, Saracen aluminium full suss for trails0 -
Pint of chocolate soya milk, 8 minutes of stretching, and handwash the shorts if I can be bothered. Followed an hour or three later by a decent meal, a good beer and (currently) the Eurosport Giro highlights.0
