MTB or Hybrid

I tend to do 75% on road and the rest trails, gravel paths etc. Looking to change or upgrade my mountain bike. Can't make my mind up if a hybrid would be a better choice (possibly with lock out front susp.). Anyone have any advice. Will the hybrid be quicker, what are they like on hills? Budget around £1k.

Cheers

Hybrids are bit hard to generalise, namely because they go from MTB's with slicks to road bikes with flat bars.

But yes for that sort of riding a Hybrid would sound a good choice.

what do you mean by trails when I go to the trails I do (though no where as well!) this sort of stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qijbsudxZU

But I suspect you mean more this sort of stuff? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDVvh3DoNLM

if it's more like the latter then almost any bike would do, from a roadie to a MTB, and things like cross bikes and so on.

what sort of riding do you do? you you favour speed over pottering do you want powerful all weather disk brakes and so on.

    Deffo Hybrid (or indeed Cyclocross?)

Who wants an MTB [YUK!]

I'm biased (as I have one,) but have a look at the Boardman range! You get a lot of bike for your money...

Try the Cube Nature - remote lockout front fork - light weight and reasonably quick in the road - I've ridden mine all through the winter and its excellent
