Stem confusion

I've got a Carerra TDF SE, which I need to reduce the stem by a bit. I'm reducing the length from 120mm to 100mm. It's going to alter the handling, I'm okay with that. Sizing wise, this would be perfect reach for me.

Once thing with this cheap monstrosity is there is nowhere that tells me the handlebar diameter. I've measured the circumference at 80mm. Doing my maths gives me: 8.0 divided by 3.14 = 2.64, round this to 26.4mm.

I cannot find an ahead stem that measures 26.4 - only 26.0. Have I got this slightly wrong? Also, would going from an (estimated) 7deg angle to 10deg angle make a difference too? I would have thought that the reduced length plus angle would make the smaller stem sit at the same level as the longer, just reaching less.... :?

The stem in question is here: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=16367

As no-one makes a stem that is 26.4mm then 26.0 will be the right one.

If you are worried about it take your bike to a local bike shop and ask them what size it is.

To be honest though if you are buying from the web you have 7 days to decide if it is correct and if not you can send it back under the distance selling rules. Wiggle are really good about returns too.

Also if you look at your bike now you will see a small gap between the faceplate and the stem both top and bottom so this might be where your maths went adrift?

As for the angle/length 7 or 10 degrees will make very little difference when you are riding so go with whatever one you want (but don't buy the 25.4mm one on the link).

Have I got it wrong then - I was dividing 8 by pi, giving me.... sorry people...
