It may start near Peterborough but this is definitely not a flat ride!

This is a lovely area for a sportive. The roads are quiet, and the villages look similar to those in the Cotswolds, and are every bit as pretty. Granted the short sharp inclines are lacking, but there are plenty of long steady climbs that will have you breathing hard.

I would do this, but I'll be in Germany, so perhaps next year I'll give the long one a go. I hope the weather is sunny and calm.

Nope, no railway bridges, it covers some of the same roads and climbs as the Melton Cicle Sportive or Discover Rutland.
No fen roads at all, it is all in Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, so plenty of short sharp climbs - see the profile on the gpsies link above.

Would I be correct in thinking that where the route meets itself again we do left turns to avoid crossing traffic... ie. Clockwise? This also ties in with the first feed at 'Middleton' and would I be right in thinking it is also the second feed for the wild route? :)

There is one right turn where the route rejoins but after that they are lef so that there is no crossing. I really cannot see that being a problem, after all you need to obey normal traffic laws - sportives are not races.

Feedstation is at Middleton - Rockingham Forest Wheelers clubhouse, twice on long route, inside toilets at feed.

We have ridden the route a couple of sundays ago and it is all very quiet roads, we saw hardly any traffic at all and as you can see it does not go on any major trunk roads and crosses the A43 on a bridge to avoid that.

Look forward to seeing everyone on the 10th. Entries will be accepted upto the Monday before the event
