Just back from a tour of , Dalbeattie, Mabie, Kirroughtree and Ae and I'm already looking at planning another trip up north. Can anyone tell me how the Keider trail centre stacks up with the 7 Stanes centres, as I was thinking of a trip up here and also doing the link with Newcastletown? Thanks

  • Hi

if you do head up i would ride the deadwater loop only, iv been over that way a few times in the past couple of months and to be honest deadwater is the one to ride, the new lonely pine trail realy is a waste of energy and time with a very poor surface that makes climbing a total drag and the downs are not much better...........

Newcastleton is a ok trail but very very short so prob ride deadwater then a loop of newcastleton.....

Vid of some sections from keilder here: http://www.pinkbike.com/video/193259/
I recon im the tinyest horse you will ever see

I really like Deadwater, usually try and get 2 laps in, one with the red descents and one with the black. The very top section is a bit crap though, long draggy climb in order to ride down what's basically a trashed fire-road.

But the rest's well up to scratch, good variety of riding... Into the Valley's one of my favourite bits of trail, it's not hard but there's a lot going on in it. And it has horrible technical climbing too on the Up and Over. Could do with a bit more trail but well worth the visit imo.
