Spectating/parking at the world cup?

I'll be just up the road from Fort William when the world cup's on so thought I might as well go and have a look... Just wondering about the practicality of it though. I'd be coming in from the north so passing nevis range on the way to fort william which makes no sense, what are the odds of finding an unoccupied layby up the A82 and then riding in? Or maybe spean bridge?
(If all goes according to plan I'll be fitting in Golspie and Learnie and possibly a day at FW on the way home so I figure I can afford a day watching other people ride bicycles )

Park at Spean Bridge and you can cycle into Leanachan forest and get to venue.0

Nice one... I see looking at the trail maps that should be pretty straightforward. Cheers!Uncompromising extremist0

The laybys on the A82 near the Nevis Range turn off were coned off last year.0

been a few years since i was up there, but if youre staying up the road from fort william, jump on one of the many shuttle buses that run from fort bill-world cup....and have no worries about riding youre bike while under the influence of lager/whisky0

I'm coming in from the other direction (and driving 2 hours back at night!) so I'm trying to avoid going into the fort, it's not exactly a traffic dream at the best of times... Thinking spean bridge is the way to go.
Also, riding into nevis range by fire road will be very much like XC racing thereUncompromising extremist0 -
Exactly as bentalla says, park somewhere(anywhere!) around Spean Br, and take the trails thru Leanachan Forest. Great wee run! I dunno what you could do with the bike when your at Anoch mor tho. Would be interesting to get an answer, as I might do similar.
I might take my motorbike as it SHOULD be easy to park up, pity about carrying leathers etc
I tried the shuttle buses about 2 or 3 years ago and they were more than packed( I thought they were like the buses in India!!)
On your days in the north have you thought about the kyle of sutherland trails and Learnie redrock on the black isle too?2011 Orange 224 evo race

Aye, if I was going up from Edinburgh I'd take the motorbike for sure, brilliant ride up and I gather last year they were allowing motorbike parking at Nevis Range.
Alpine are doing a bike park, it says to bring your own lock... Not sure what the facilities will actually be like.
i'm staying at Embo, just by Dornoch... so yup, Golspie for sure as it's just over the hill, Learnie probably, and Kyle of Sutherland, that's Balblair and Carbisdale? Hoping to squeeze that in too. And then back to the Fort on the way home for a day on the red and dh. I was going to detour and do the Lecht and Glenshee on the way up but the word's not great on those and the pics look blimmin awful, uplift or no...
I should really do a "natural" ride while I'm up there but I'm too crap at map reading Also I will be building a massive sandcastle.Uncompromising extremist0 -
Yeah, Kyle of Sutherland is Carbsdale and Balblair.
Ona slightly more natural trail, how about the Strathpuffer route round strathpeffer near dingwall?
I havent tried the Lecht or Glenshee, but one of my mates was at the Lecht last year and he thought it was good, but he's never experianced nevis!2011 Orange 224 evo race

I'd like to do the puffer trails actually (*) But I think it's probably not going to make the cut this time. Probably need to find more out about the lecht and glenshee rather than just writing them off though. Cheers!
