b'twin 8.1 2011 or carrera kraken 2009?

Hi,

My budget for a mountain bike to do single track type stuff is £500.

I am very close to buying a 2011 b'twin 8.1 from Decathlon (£499) (i.e. they've ordered it in for me), but while looking for accessories in Halfords I saw the 2009 Kraken is only £379.

I'm struggling to compare them, but can anyone tell me if the b'twin is £120 better than the kraken?

Was there a kraken 2010?

If you're prepared to pay the £499 I'd say the Rockrider is worth it - better spec pretty much all over.

I am not expert but I have just got my Rockrider 8.1 last night. I have just fitted some flat pedals Wellgo and I love it. I am sure that every new bike must be great but I am well happy with the bike. Next week I should have the time to go and try it on some trails.
