factory built wheels vs handbuilt wheels

hi lads

im on the lookout for new wheels for my ace bike,

im not after anything aero, so the major names of Zipp and all are out

but something within the range of £300-£500

a friend has Mavic Krysium Sls, they seems really solid.

any other recommendations?

the other option is hand built wheels by a mechanic i know,

does anybody here use hand built wheels for their racing here, and if so, what would their thoughts be, or am i best just going for something factory built?

Probably factory in your price range......DA wheels that I use are really good.
