What amazes me these days is the we still appear to be living in a dream world where supposed "adults" need to be told everything.

    Get real.

Don't give out your bank details to everyone on the internet, don't believe you have won £10m in an African lottery and send £1000, cancel the papers and milk before you go away, it is a car owners fault that you hit it because they were standing still, don't have insurance on your bike including public liability who needs that !

I remember all the moaning old F**** who complained when their houses were flooded, and they wanted the government to compensate them as they didn't have insurance, TOUGH.

Personally if people are this dumb, serve them right. This is the 21st century, start thinking for yourselves and stop blaming others when you make a mistake.

Was it this junction - harvey nics the building site shown on the RHS:

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=BS1+3BZ+havey&aq=&sll=51.457697,-2.586293&sspn=0.007955,0.018218&g=BS1+3BZ&ie=UTF8&hq=havey&hnear=Bristol,+Avon+BS1+3BZ,+United+Kingdom&ll=51.457697,-2.586293&spn=0,0.018218&z=16&layer=c&cbll=51.457426,-2.586134&panoid=_Bc5th89rz8aX7s6w1vYXw&cbp=12,149.95,,0,0

So car was parked outside Harveys, cyclist on left of you wanting to turn right, but only able to change lane once they cleared illegally parked car. You wanting to go straight on(?).

Personally I think all three of you contributed equally to the accident, with no clear person to blame. You were going too fast for the conditions, the other cyclist didn't look, and the car caused the necessity for the late lane change.

If it gets messy don't forget that most household insurance will cover you for 3rd party claims where you are not travelling in a motorised vehicle!

Good luck and hope you and the other cyclist fully mend soon!

I'm not clear from this who you feel is to blame!

Rufus..that map you posted is about the correct location but obviously the shopping centre was not complete at that stage...once again to really clarify and the more I think about it I feel the aggrieved party.

This piece of road in central Bristol is one way traffic right in the centre deviding the new shopping center Cabot Circus from the old Broadmead. It is always full of pedestrians/shoppers continuously crossing and not always paying attention to road condtions and quite often not noticing cyclists. Add to this traffic that travels one way..taxis buses etc and you get the usual confusing city centre turmoil! My attention will nearly always be on pedestrians as they imho are the more unpredictable and I presumed that the cyclist on my left would stay on the left and not wonder across into my path. I cannot say I saw him wondering into my path as it all happend so quick and having presumed the cyclist would stay left the danger would come from pedestrians( as it usually does) The next thing I know I am flat on the ground having been swiped/hit by the cyclist who must have wondered into my lane. We then fell to the right and scraped the car door parked on the yellow lines. My point here is it must have been his fault as we fell right due to him taking me out. So looking back, although my speed was not excessive and although I was looking at the lights in the distance the accident was caused by the jay riding cyclist...I am in work today Sat and still bruised but no bones broken so a lesson learned..

I think this shows the location better from the other side of the trafficlights.

I'm not sure he is clear either. Looks like he wanted to post something to sound smart and whilst I agree with everything he has said, it is absolutely irrelevant to the discussion!

Just like to say hope the ops ok and worth getting your head checked out if you ve had any dizziness tiredness etc concussion can come on days later and get your bloody helmet on lol .
Ive had a few people veer across in front of me on bikes for various reasons i havent always seen such as potholes etc so i make a point if im going to overtake of giving my 99p tesco bell a good dinging a while before i get to them it usually results in them looking for me and i do the same for pedestrians when im using my coast commute although some tend to get aggrieved by a bell for some reaon .............
