Cycle computer with altimeter

Never used these before and wondering whether the barometric altimeter is any accurate to capture the total ascent/descent (every plane is equipped with one rather GPS one). Appreciate if anyone can share their thougths, especially whether it is any good in windy conditions, and in general whether it is worth the money.

    As it works on air pressure you would need to keep resetting when you arrive on known spot heights as weather changes. It is a real pain to do when walking so I'd avoid it, and go for GPS
