Hi,

I'm going to Glenridding this weekend with a group of about 20 people from work. Most of them are planning to spend the weekend walking but my mate and I are going to take our bikes and hopefully find a route to ride around Ullswater. It will be my first time there and having had a look on the internet there seem to be a few possible routes we could take. My mate isn't a particularly experienced mountain biker, but I would still like to ride some good single track and a few technical bits maybe up to red grade standard, to keep it interesting. Has anyone here been that way and have a route they could recommend?

Cheers, Chris

Just simply follow the bridle way on the south eastern side of the lake. Follow it until you reach the end, then turn around and go back. Can be easy or technical depending on what lines you take.

For a slightly harder ride, and a bit more technical, you could follow the lakeside road north from Glenridding, turn left up towards Dockray, turn left in Dockray, then head towards the Old Coach Road and follow that to a peak. If you carry on straight over that you'll head towards Hellvellyn on a rollercoaster trail over about 3 or 4 peaks. Turn left when you meet a little t-junction and follow that track down through Greenside mines, and back into Glenridding.
Never put off until tomorrow something that you can do today. 'Cause if you do it today, and like it, the you can do it again tomorrow!!
