Evening all,

We have a challenge on our Facebook Group, fastest time around Dalby on the red route. Well today me and my Lapierre Spicy 316 posted a time of 2 hours 7 minutes and 36 seconds, I am well pleased and currently hold top spot on the group. What times have other people done and on what bikes?

Cheers

    Not bad going.

Did it in 2.05 ish the other day ( endomondo was having issues so cant be sure)
Want to go try again without slower friend and a broken gear cable 5 miles from the end.

Dalby is nice to ride at the moment while its dry assuming you miss the traffic and dont get held up too much.

Yeah Dalby is in a strange state at the mo. Fast and very loose in places with some switchbacks looking more like beaches than an MTB trail. 4 of us went up today at different times for a go at a good lap. There were 3 crashes, one bad one at Medusa's Drop and two more just on the loose ground. Tyre choice seems to be paramount at the moment if your going to blast round.

Did a 2hr 12mins last time out with my mate that was on a weekend and got held up a couple of times, i did it the back end last summer in 2hr 24mins after biking up from malton then riding back again ( its long road home after doing that though  ).
I reckon at some poitn this summer when i get up there on an early morning i should be able to do a sub 2hr lap on my topfuel :)
  • I have never been to Dalby but I have Sunday to myself so I'm driving down and hitting it as hard as I can. I like a challenge.

Rode it for the first time last weekend, and I was very impressed!

Agree with the comments about the "beach-like" conditions in places, just meant for more hanging the rear-end out action. Plus with this current dry spell we should be thankful the trees weren't on fire!

I made it round in about a couple of hours (with a couple of stops to adjust my bloody chain device)

So are Medusa's Drop and Worry Gill in the red route, or just the race course?

Apologies to people who know if I pick the wrong name (always forget which obstacle is which), but Medusa's Drop could be included as part of the red route, seeing as you don't need to detour to do that section. You go along some singletrack and you turn right to Medusa's or carry on to do some switchbacks. Both lines bring you out at the same point.

Worry Gill is right next to a slow part of the red route, so you wouldn't lose much time if you wanted to do that obstacle.

Some fast times there, sub 2 hours is cracking on at fair lick round there !
    Well done

Just one ref Medusas drop ?
Where is it ? there is a drop or roller at the top of the ravine i presume is worry gill, but its to the left from the red route or am i thinking of a different part ?

    Thanks in advance !

    Your correct Chalky

Worry gill is at the top of the ravine on the left as you climb out of the dip on the red route.

Medusas drop is a steep diversion to the right of the red route as you go down the switchbacks under the trees, it brings you back out on to the red route at the bottom.

  • Just thought I'd resurrect this after finally finding a free day to get down to Dalby. First time I've ever ridden there I managed a 2hrs 35mins on my Canyon in much wetter conditions than I expected. I'm currently training to do the Llandegla 10 solo so I'm going to go back in a few months and see how much I've improved.

Got to say though, 2.07 is going some!
