New Boardman range, new Voodoo range, does anyone know if the Halfords Carrera range is being updated in 2011, and when?

All I can find is a bike radar news report from last year , but nothing solid.

Cheers.

It would be interesting to know what they come up with next.
A decent 120-130mm full suss version of the fury would be good.
Decathalon are catching up in the spec for money.

i do hear that the new fury might be running a 2x10 set up which will be on the new sram x.5 and some x7 in there too... nothing set in stone i imagine that they are still tweeking with the spec to make it good value for money eitherway its got to hit the same marker the older fury did.

As far as I'm aware Carrera is Halfords. Rather than you're Boardman is exclusive to Halfords.

Store assistant told me 2-3 months, it keeps getting delayed..........
Not convinced he knew what he was talking about though.

I think they are, bought a carrera a few weeks ago in the sale and was told it was because they're introducing new stock. No idea when though :? :?

Seems to me that they should be adding some replacements for the GT models they've lost- a bigger full suss, a harder core hardcore hardtail...

This is about as likely as Halfords losing exclusivity on Halfords own brand engine oil I reckon.

It seems to me Voodoo are filling the 'Halfords bike, but not by name' gap.

New Carrera bikes should be released within 2-3 weeks. Got a big delivery of em today but no store is allowed to put em out.

Haven't looked at spec but the colour of the Vulcan is, and I quote '30% Matt Black'.

Give it a couple of weeks... its a really nice grey iirc. It's definitely coming very soon.
  • They are out in the shops now.

Not as good value as last years models imo

fury mid august, banshee mid september (estimates on the launch document), due to them having 2012 sram (2x10).

2011 banshee x on the website, massive disappointment in terms of spec.

For £800 it is not too bad in today's terms. Given you can't buy many frames like that for 800 quid. Not as good as last years, but same for all manufacturers.

I had the new boardman fs in the back of my mind and expected that kind of upgrade/revamp rather than a shuffle around. Doesn't even look like it has a bolt through on the front end.

Will have to see if the xxx offers a bit more spec for the money.

This is the best longer travel 800 quid FS out there:

Amazing bargain, the frames were going for more than that recently!

    size small only though.

Just seen a camber on sale for 999, a small sign that prices might be coming down in advance of 2012 models

    Some more info here:

    http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/c ... vamp-31154

The hardtail range is baffling. Looking at the Halfords website they have different hardtails at the £300, £350, £420 and £500 price point. Plus the Fury at £600. Is going to be a complicated range when they start the usual shuffling of prices.

New Fury is in store in September, gets 2x10 SRAM gearing and a SR Radon fork.
  • Slightly confused as to the speculation over release dates as the local stores near me have them had them out in the shop for over a fortnight. Maybe I live in a time warp

I think Halfords are more confused than the rest of us right now.

Pic of the banshee says 152 mm on the rear travel, spec on website says 140mm.

Description on website mentions both x5 trigger shifters and x4.....

Hopefully they will upgrade it as suggested in the blurb, based on the vat changes to C2w this could be my last chance to get a bike for a good few years.
