I mainly ride at my local trail centre but also ride the likes of Afan, Cwmcarn and Coed Y Brenin when i can. I stick to the xc orientated trails and dont really plan to get into downhill other than the odd go on the easiest of the runs at my local trail centre and of course the downhill sections on the xc trails at Afan etc.

As my skills have improved ive found myself getting steadily faster/braver on the downhill's and the rough stuff but i'm now wondering if its time to get myself some pads?

I currently just wear helmet and gloves but ive noticed quite a few people at the trail centres are wearing knee and elbow pads these days.

Would it be a good idea to look at something like the 661 kyle straits to give me that extra bit of confidence??

Also is it worth getting shin protection? as a newbie ive had the usual minor pedal scrapes on shins but nothing serious. Havnt bashed the elbows up yet but wondering if its worth getting some basic elbow cover as well??

Any advice on this would be good.

I started wearing pads due to the bramble/thorne bushes where I ride. After a few crashes I would now not ride without them.

I can reccomend the 661 kyle straits and they a good rating with other members on here.
