How to watch Giro on Finestre?

Heading to Italy for some training and Giro happens to be on when there, yay!

After tip off from someone on here - they suggested going to watch it up the Finestre.

I've never gone to watch a mountain stage of anything so - how do i do it!?

I will be with the lady, who doesn't cycle (well a little), so assume we will be driving to the mountain.

Should we just drive along the road as far up as possible, i.e. till where other cars are parked, then add ours to the bunch and walk up? Is cycling up the only way to get amongst it? What time should we aim to be in position?

Advice and tips hugely appreciated. Flying blind here and don't want to sell the lady a dud.

Thanks!

I believe the Giro climbs Finestre from the north and takes the descent to the southwest.
The road from the north is very narrow and will probably be closed to any traffic on the day.
There is also a road up from the southeast, which is how I would drive up. It meets up with the southwesterly road some way before the top and you can then walk up following that road (or use some of the hiking trails). Good luck. Sounds like a great plan!
