I rode a lot of the route over the weekend, a great ride out to some of the best parts of the Peak District. It promises to be a great day out.

I'm entered in the 135m route, will be my longest ever ride.
Looks like a cracking route, just hope the weather is good for it0 -
I was going to enter this even but unfortunately you have arranged this on exactly the same weekend as Mark Chamber's (Notts CTC) 200k Cheshire Cat Audax. :oops:0

Sorry but the majority of us also have domestic responsibilities and whilst my other half is very supportive towards my cycling, I am absolutely sure that if I enter both events on the same weekend, that would clearly be seen as a breech of that covenant!
We urgently need to get this aspect of our sport sorted out as we now have too many events chasing too few available dates.
The Cheshire Cat Audax is also an excellent event and for £5 entry we also get a free lunch half way round and tea and cakes at the end.

Why? More choice is better, surely. Perhaps I want to do this event and not the Cheshire Cat. Fair enough, you're otherwise booked, but if this date works out best for those that are organising it, and they get the number of entries they hope for, then what's the problem? Of course, if they only get me turning up on the day maybe they'll move the date next year, but I doubt that will happen0 -
I might do the 135mile route - have to see what else is on and who I can rope into it.
it's a hard life if you don't weaken.0 -

Living in Beeston I wish to support both events and whilst choice in theory is nice, organising both these events on the same weekend surely is going to challenge the sustainability of both these.
I suspect that the Beeston event will be very much a club event whilst the Cheshire Cat will attract broader group of other riders, however I may be wrong.
I have still to make up my mind which event to support. :?:0 -
What time is the 135 mile event due to start and how many are signed up for this?0
-
It starts at 8am from Bramcote Park.
As of June 29th there were 9 entries into the 135 mile route.
There are a few more now, will find out numbers at our club criterium race at Giltbrook Retail Park, Sunday 10th July 8pm.
That should also be a good evening out.BeestonCC Sportive

The weather certainly did add to the challenge. I did the full 137 mile route and the wind & rain on the northernmost section was incredibly tough. Having said that, I quite enjoyed battling the elements.
A nicely organised small event with plenty of potential to grow - the route selection was great, feed stations well stocked & friendly, and course very well signed. Well done Beeston CC.0 -
Thanks for your really positive feedback I will pass it on to the club through our forum.
A tough day to do 137 Peak District miles, well done for getting round.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it.BeestonCC Sportive

+1.
I only did the 45 (nearer to 50 miles after I got lost a couple of times...a lack of sign reading on my part!) but did enjoy it, especially the food stops which were well stocked. The soup at the end was first rate.
I thought the route was interesting as well, although the wind was horrible! I'll be back next year.0
