Hi everyone.

Signed up here looking for some new faces to ride with as I've decided to get back into riding after 6 or 7 years.

This is the new ride - a Commencal Ramones 1;

    i only asked as its a good looking bike so i had a quick google and some pictures make it look like a trail bike shaped bike and others make it look like a dirt jump shaped bike. either way, sorry for the hijack, ace looking bike.

    I think it could do a bit of both, although its weight is probably an issue for dirt jumping.

    the Ramones is an awesome bike I bought one meself last month :D

    Have swapped the bars for a Race Face Atlas cut down to 735mm and the sp for an inline FSA DH300. The Ramones weighs a ton but pedals well and is quite enthusiastic on the climbs with the fork wound down to 95mm. The fun starts at the top though - extend the forks to 140mm, drop the post and smash it down the hill it is just mental

    Yep, it feels great, solid, and very responsive on the downhills.

    Happy with the £850 price too, not many new hardtails with this spec for that sort of money (from what I found). Cove Stiffee was my next choice but £500 more? Had to be this.

    +1 for the price. I don't think it was ever worth £1249 and although most of the kit is not bleeding edge Commencal haven't cut any corners.

    Nice to own a bike that can take a beating and come back for more.

    that looks a lot more like a trail bike than a jump bike, what size is it?

    It's a large. The top tube is on the short side at 588mm and the stem is 60mm so it's not particularly roomy like a trail bike but then again the seat tube is 72 degrees so it pedals quite well unlike a jump bike. I tried a medium and the seat tube was the biggest difference - simply not enough room for my legs (6'2") although the reach was only a little bit shorter.

    Still holding up well despite frequent, intense neglect. It really is the kind of bike you can rag around on, throw it in the shed and do it all again the next day.

    Have fitted RF Atlas bars, RF Strafe grips, XTR chain, XT shifters + SP41 cables, PD-M785 SPDs oh and a Nuke Proof seat clamp & headset spacers.

    Would post another pic but I've only cleaned it once since I bought it :wink:
