Hi.

Re Campag Mirage - triple ergo setup..

Whilst on the round the Isle of Wight ride yesterday - my Campag Mirage left hand lower gear lever snapped right off - bugger!

Anyway - managed to use a screwdriver to push the ratchet cable pull around - so that I was stuck in my middle chain ring - which was just about ok for the hills.

So wondered - do I now have any other options aprt from buying a new set of shifters?

Has anyone had this problem before?

Can you buy this spare anywhere in the uk?

If so - is it straightforward to fit?

Advice / experiences would be appreciated..cheers

Any idea of what they are likely to charge for doing this fix?

Thats the poblem with Campy. Its great that they are rebuildable but its nearly cheaper to buy a replacement on ebay.
I needed a new Carbon faceplate for my record rd and I was qouted £112 plus postage.

It depends on which bits you need. The common part needing replacement is the G-springs at a few pence each
Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.

I've seen 3 broken shifters (right and left) for sale on ebay over the past 2 months, so it does happen, although I couldn't say how frequently. Mine are holding up,

I broke 2 left hand levers over about 7 years. One was Centaur, the other Chorus.
I also lost the shift on a right hand Centaur lever which had to be repaired.
Meanwhile I watched my friends use Shimano without an issue.
The last time it happened I gave in and went to the darkside and I now have Ultegra.
(Cue lots of abuse from Campag users which I would have joined in with till I saw the light!)

Mine was the carbon part on the rear mech that says 'Record' on it (or Chorus or whatever you are using). Its the part where the limit screws are located. I think the technical name for it is Paralellogram.
