Video of Peak District ride from Edale - down Jacobs Ladder
With hindsight we probably did this loop the wrong way around. Coming down Jacobs Ladder wasn't much fun. Anyone else done this route and know the best way around?
I'm happy with the GoPro HD quality, although the stem mount is noisy on such rough terrain.

Cheers for sharing - looks like a lovely day, great film quality too - without the fisheye look you can sometimes get with the GoPro.0

Well, i've tried (unsucessfully) to ride UP it twice, and it was a flipping nightmare! So you definitely did it the right way around!
And I am stupid for not learning my lesson the first time, and trying to ride to ride up it again  :roll:Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!

Its not just how hard it would be, IMO its best done the way round you went. Roych clough is just a farm track with a virtually impossible rocky bit Rushup Edge is a tough steppy rubbly climb and a grassy descent... Fun to be had coming off Mam Torr I grant you, and coming from the top of the ladder down to Coldwell Clough looks fun in places, but still no match for the correct way....0

If coming down JL wasn't fun, what is then?
Guess you're a trail centre monkey who's become accustomed to the usual smooth for your bum flowing tracks, not that theres anything wrong with trail centre routes but they're not half as fun as some real natural stuff, like Jacobs Ladder or Cavedale.0 -
Did The Beast by accident in January in really sh*t weather and awful conditions - desperate to go back and put it to bed in decent conditions - one day soon.....0

Great quality Video BTW.0

Thanks for all the comments. You're right BTW - we are southern softies more used to smooth local singletrack, and the Welsh trail centres. All those bloody rocks up in the Peaks - must take a bit of getting used to :? I bet your bikes don't last long either...
Really enjoyed it though and we'll do it again - great scenery.http://www.youtube.com/user/stumpy25lbs

I loved the JL descent - did it last weekend for he first to escape from all the wedding coverage on the telly (was majorly windy). Makes a nice change from manicured trail centres (although they are also good - depends what mood I am in).My Website - Trail Centre info for the UK: MTB Trail Time0

Crayfish, rocks are cool! Not ridden a trail centre for ages and TBH I found it dull (penmachno) Bikes do last, but mines overbuilt and weighing in at 34lbs... But I'm a fat lump, so thats barely relevant! Cassettes, chains and chain rings can go pretty quick if its boggy tho' I' use an avg of 3 chains a year...0

(yes, yes, I know: "holy thread resurrection batman" etc etc ...)
I did Jacobs clockwise for the first time on Saturday (pretty incredible seeing as I've lived & MTB'd in the area for 15 years... previously always gone up JL)
My personal preference: walk up Jacobs, then a nice longish rocky descent down the other side to Coldwell Clough, rather than the long rocky slog up from Coldwell then the short rocky descent of Jacobs.0 -
