Truvativ Bottom Brackets

Have done a search but didn't find the answer to my question.
I have been tasked with changing the bottom bracket on my friends boardman team fs. It has truvativ firex cranks and a truvativ bottom brakcet. I am sure I read somewhere that the truvativ cranks are not compatible with shimano bottom brackets so will need to buy a truvativ/gxp one. Is this the correct info?
What would people recommend (other than buying new chainset pls)?

you will need a GXP compatible set of cups."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
