Not sure cermaic are worth it, jockey wheels seems to last a long time for a few quid, and those ceramic ones are £40+

The Token Tiramic ones are very good. I have them on all my bikes

You'll need the most expensive ones. They'll make you faster.0

you realize the top one is suppose to have quite a bit of play in it?0

In what way are they very good? Last ones I bought were BBB ones - proper sealed bearings; about £7.00 a pair I think. Aside from aesthetics and the aforementioned proper bearings, I'm not convinced I'd spot any difference between the BBB ones and any more flashy types.Faster than a tent.......0 -
thinking about replacing the jockey wheels on my Campag 9 speed Veloce RD, 992-18614 RollerBoys (BDP-11) OK? Not bad at £20. I'm not sure but do stock Campag jockey wheels have bush hubs or ball bearings?Say... That's a nice bike..

Fine. You won't spot any difference. I'm sure you'll sleep better - but the OP asked for ceramic jockey wheel recommendations and I suggested some that I've used and think are good.Expertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/

They're bushes that eventually rust and become stiff. In fact I've had ones on my winter bikes that have completely seized.Expertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/

Errr, I was asking a question out of genuine curiosity and interest but never mind.........
@FatherJack - by the look of it, the Campag ones are cheap metal bushes (at least the ones that cost the same as the BBB are!).
The BBB Rollerboys are really worth a look - mine are the standard, non ceramic version but they've been on the MTB for thousands of miles without bother. Ceramics only another tenner so you pays your money but they'll be fine whichever you get.Faster than a tent.......0 -

How about buying a Campy replacement? It's the one that's made for it. Why bother with
anything else? :? :?
It's the same argument as you used with my jockey wheel replacement. I went with the Tacx roller bearing type rather than the nasty OEM ones. Much quieter and I'm sure they will last longer. The Tacx ones are designed to work with it just as much as the OEM ones and are probably under less price pressureROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -

Because Campag charge £18 for jockey wheels without sealed bearings andyou can get ones with sealed bearings for half the price. However much you want to pay, there is far better value elsewhere.Faster than a tent.......0 -

I've got to say that I've can't remember ever having noisy jockey wheels or ones that didn't seem to last forever. However, I do understand lower prices.0 -

Ah, but unless your location is bogus, you probably don't commute year-round in the Scottish Highlands
BTW, it's not the jockey that was noisy, per-se, but the chain not being guided correctly. A sealed roller bearing is also always going to be better on a jockey wheel than a greased plain bearing as far a wear is concerned too.
But let's just agree on costROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
Stuy-b wrote:you realize the top one is suppose to have quite a bit of play in it?
I was going to ask about this as I stripped and cleaned my jockey wheels a while back and found the top one had a fair bit of play. Do you know why this is? I would have thought less play would be better for more precise gear selection?0 -
bearings wear out quickly when subjected to water and dirt. a bush doesnt and campy bushes last a boringly liong time.i have a pair of tacx ceramic jockey wheels still lin the box waiting to get out and getting cheaper all the time...........top one is meant to float so it can put the chain on the sprocket smoothly .the wind in the face and sun on the back thats living0

Ive got the token tiramic ones - not the carbon fibre as i thought they looked a bit weak - not sure they are any better that da 7800 they replaced but they look nice - i just replaced the bottom one on two derailleurs0

The bush doesn't but the plastic jockey wheel it sits in does. I've slung mine now but the hole was 1-2mm bigger than the bush. Remember it runs at up to 500+rpm - fastest rotating bits on the bikeROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0
