Bleedin' Brakes

Why oh why did I do it? I knew it would go wrong but I carried on regardless. I tried (and thought I succeeded) to bleed my Hayes Stroker Trail brakes. I had the kit and all the info from this site and after a few goes and 2 bottles of fluid later (don't ask) I thought I was a mechanical god. When I went for a test ride it was soon obvious that this was not the case. The bike stops but it is quite gradual and only after the lever is virtually touching the grip. Can someone who knows what they are talking about give me a pointer as to how I can remedy this as my LBS isn't particularly L so I want to try and sort it myself.
Cheers.

sounds like you still have air in the system.

    does the lever pump up?

It did pump up ok after only a few pulls and felt like I thought it should. Do you think I should redo it?
