we must be well on for a full team at the worlds (assuming cavendish starts wiping the floor with people when it matters in his usual fashion)

GB are 11th on the World Tour rankings, but that is without points from Romandie. We're already half way to 2010's points total, so assuming Cav starts picking up some GT stage wins we should score comfortably more than last season.

Could have done with Brad not getting caught behind in the split on the first stage though, given the route he could have made top 5 overall on GC which would have been a nice handful of points!

wiggins has a habit of getting caught out though, probably because he can't be bothered so just trundles around mid pack.

i'd imagine our points for this will mostly come from cavendish, swift, thomas and millar, no one should be relying on wiggins

Wasn't 2009 the only time recently GB have been able to field a full size team at the Worlds? It needed 9 GT stage wins for Cav and Wiggins 4th on GC at the Tour to get enough points to finish in the top 10 nations at ProTour level.

Cav winning GT stages and Wiggins targeting GC on the WorldTour events are the best hope of scoring enough points. Points from the others are useful, but Swift's win today was only worth 6 points, Wiggins scored 70 for 3rd on GC at Paris-Nice.

Brad is developing a habit of being caught out in races he's not specifically targetting GC though - De Panne, Criterium International and now Romandie so far this season...

Wiggins has already accumulated 75 points, which is probably more than Thomas or Millar will accumulate by Judgement Day (unless they do well at Eneco, which they may).

I reckon we need at least 400 points to make the top 10, so Cav needs to get those GT stage wins rolling in.

i forgot about wiggins paris-nice when i posted. i still don't expect anything at all from him during the rest of the season, he's had his decent race for the year and will stroll through now.

I'd like to see all our British riders doing well. Is Wiggins not just pacing himself for a better tour with his Sky colleagues in July. After all the hype of last year which ended in disappointment for the fans not least Wiggo himself then I have a belief he is building up for the TDF this year.

Then again maybe it's just wishful thinking.

Still it's great to have such a good British representation in Pro Cycling and I just wish it was better reported in the mainstream media. The BBC getting behind the track events but never reporting on the road racing. No mention of Swift winning the stage on any of the news channels I have seen.

I hope he is pacing himself for the TdF.

Even if he got top 10 there are 50 points for 10th. Sky should have a stronger squad this year as well.

I hope we do get a full strength team together, we could put together a seriously strong lead out train (is it this years course that the pundits were suggesting would suit Cav?).

    Yeah, it's this year.

(2012 is in the Netherlands and will be an Ardennes classic style course)

I think this refers to this stage. Either way, it is pretty cool!
