Wharncliffe !
I've been to Wharny this afternoon,
I still believe that this place sorts out the men from the boys, I've ridden there countless times over the past decade, It has dictated the way that i ride and how i've ridden for years.
There was a time when Wharncliffe was THE Benchmark for riders to asses their abilities, the theory was if you could ride that place you could ride anywhere !
Well i,ve been to all the trail centres and never been over anything as technical as the singletrack back along the crags beside the dry stone wall, the singletrack that leads to the fireroad where the concrete block is on top of the old waterfall run !
And the new runs from the top Fireroad across the old cart track to the bottom fire road !
Jeezus ! The gradient of some of these descents with the drops would never be allowed at a trail centre !
Thats not to say i do not enjoy trail centres because i do ! they are spectacular,
Its only when riding some where as brutal as this you realise why parts for your bike are as expensive as they are !
