At the moment I've got a couple of NN 2.4s front & rear and find them pretty good, I'm a big lad (6ft 5, 110kg) and like the extra volume of the tyre when hooning around at trail centres. Most of my riding is either Leith Hill, Swinley, Afan or the 7stanes when I head home.

That said, I've had a few similar experiences to aidso. The NN does occasionally break away without too much warning, normally in dry, loose conditions. Can be a bit un-nerving!

I'm probably going to go tubeless soon, in an attempt to banish snakebite punctures all together, and am wondering if there are any other good high volume, tubeless options people would suggest?

I'd like something with a similar size, good grip, yet not 'downhill' heavy. Any suggestions?

Was considering Continental Rubber Queen 2.4, or Maxxis Ardent 2.25 front and Crossmark 2.25 rear? Any experiences or other suggestions?

I hear many good reports of the Crossmarks although I think they can be a bit sketchy in the rain. My local trails are like a bog at the mo so I'm still having to run a mud tyre. Have ordered 2 Bontrager Mud-Xs and will hopefully have them by the weekend.

I run the Maxxis advantage front and rear and find them very good espicially with the weather were having with the trails nice and dry. However can't vouch for them in the really wet stuff as not tested them, but they get good reviews. I run the 2.1 but they are a wide tyre for a 2.1.

    See this review,

How are the advantage on road? I don't really like to do road miles but usually have to in order to get to the trails. Been running an ignitor on the rear and the road is eating it up!

I find them a great all round tyre and they roll well on the roads not had an issue with them yet.

    Hey chaps,

Another person looking for some new tyres, thought I would use this thread as there are quite a few tyre threads around and I don't want to drive you all nuts with a new one. :)

I am currently running come Conti Traffic's as I was spending a lot of time of cycle paths and tarmac, having moved to a new country and didn't know anywhere to bike. Now the good weather is here I have found some good forest track and so want to get some decent tyres for it. I was thinking of following a lot of people here and going for Nobby Nic up front and some Racing Ralph at the rear. But just interested to know if they are half decent on tarmac, as I spend my week evenings local and do a bit of tarmac in between the few tracks that are here. (Belgium really needs some mountains and off road).

What do you guys think worth my money?

For anyone that hasnt ordered yet, Nobbies are going for £20 each on On-One (http://www.on-one.co.uk). A lot cheaper than what I paid.

£20 for black with silver stripe. All black are £23.50. Still a bargain mind you.

That silver stripe makes the difference does it hehe :)

The Nics are good for Tarmac but there is no side tread. So if u hit a corner or wet roots you better pucker-up

So I tried a Conti Rubber Queen 2.4 on the front this weekend at Cwm Carn and have to say it's simply amazing! Fastest I have ever went downhill with total confidence.

What wasn't so awesome was going back up, mainly on the tarmac road (offroad trail 1st lap was ok). I'm using a NN 2.4 on the back and it rolls like a tractor tyre.

Guess it's a compromise whatever you use, but any suggestions for a largish volume (NN 2.4 type size) for the rear during the summer that has some decent speed rolling but still some reasonable grip?

Mostly ride trail centres and Swinley / Surrey Hills.
