Fro me it's as much Sherwan repeatedly coming out with "The Bike race" and "This great Bike race" as if it might be some other race, skateboards maybe ?! It's more than bleedin' obvious Paul, it is a bicycle race, no doubting what we are watching.

During last year's Tour me and my girlfriend had a 'quote of the day' thing with Phil and Paul, which we added to our wallchart along with the results of each stage. It was brilliant, every day there'd be at least one that would be worthy of Colemanballs. Like someone else said above for me listening to Phil Liggett commentate is nostalgic and takes me back to when me and my dad used to watch it on channel 4 years ago.

Sean Kelly is so monotone I completely switch him out, but having read some of the comments about his race knowledge I'll have to give him another try. It does seem that with DH and Sean, DH gets really excited about stuff for a contrast with Sean's white noise impression.

    Magnus is good.

    MrTapir.
There's a whole thread somewhere dedicated to the wonderful rubbish spouted by Phil and Paul, landlocked lakes, heads of state, dancing on those pedals and 500 Lance references are all there :)

    Found it http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12633952

Mrs stfc1 loves Sean Kelly's accent! And I love his race analysis, so he wins hands down. There is a reason the biggest races get the Harmon/Kelly pairing.

Magnus is alright though, in fact they all are except Carlton Kirby who can get pretty annoying and loves Cadel Evans more than is healthy.

What? are you saying 3 days of dePanne is not the cream of pro racing?

Dougzz, yes I saw that and I think thats what started us off in the first place. "Incredible Job of Work" has made its way into our household banter lots.

It was last year, when David Millar won it

Maggie is only in his 2nd year now and already a bore because of Mrs David Harmon.

I wish you all "Happy Zapping" and enjoy the pictures.

What complete twaddle. Are you his agent or something? Why does anyone watching Eurosport care what Sean Kelly does in the evening. If he's bored with the job and thinks Harmon is a tw*t he should move on. Chatting with other commentators when he's supposed to be adding insight for the audience is hardly an argument in his ftill avour is it? Your view seems to be that Kelly can do as he wishes and the audience doesn't matter because SK deems DH and the Eurosport audience unworthy of his time and concentration.
My point being that Mrs King of the Almighty Triple Gob hasn't the inteligence to use Kelly in an interesting way and so if that is what he wants then Kelly will answer the questions put to him.
You too would be monotone repeating the same questions and yes I would love Kelly to do the job as he wishes if only Harmon would go AWOL occasionally.
I just read between the lines and note that Kelly has changed but you still hear him prompting Harmon who then corrects himself.
No Mrs Hog wants to say it all even though it was Kelly who taught him and is frightened to leave the microphone in case he misses something being said.
You havn't noticed a new Kelly observation being repeated many times by Harmon.
Harmon is the one that cares when he is not invited and is then envious about what he missed out on.
Listen to him say such things.

You don't hear Kelly making reports about his personnal itinerary until Harmon asks him.

Celeb spot at the end of the Tour of Doonhame....(this what it must be like for normal people reading heat!)

    What, more than Harmon does.
Go on your kidding me.
He's a mountain bike man like Harmon's MB chain gang rides through the Epping Forest roads he told us about a couple of years ago. (never a word now)

    .

I remember during the '08 and '09 Roubaix Sean was really very animated and excitable (for him anyway). Maybe it was the fact he had to shout over the final lap bell that kept ringing at the velodrome, but you could really feel he was excited by it all.

Bloody well should have to, given who won.

Think Harmon in combination with any of the three co-commentators mentioned (Kelly, Backstedt and Smith) is an excellent combination. I think cycling fans are served pretty well by Eurosport.

I noticed an annoying habit of Harmon on yesterday's Giro TTT, when he says something and then suffixes it with "To be quite frank" or "frankly". Now I'm going to find him really annoying all the time thanks to you guys!
