hi guys.
just wandering if anybody could give me their opinions/any info on xc wheelsets.
I'm looking to upgrade mine and cant decide between some fulcum red metal zeros, mavic crossmax sl's or some american classics?? the crossmax's i can get for £500 (2009 model), the fulcrum's i can get for £440 (2010 model), the american classics for around £390.
any help would be greatly appreciated and if you'd recomend anything else then i'd love to hear what your favourites are. i'm into general xc and want a stiff lightweight tubeless wheelset i can use for races and training.
cheers, mike.

ive got the american classics and can Highly recommend them!!!
light stiff and tubeless ready (Dont come with valves though!!), supeer fast rollingand the freehub makes a nice fishing reel kinda noise, not too obtrusive, and handily, a 240lb rider weight limit too! (quite a few light wheelsets run the limits at 185lb/80kg)
a bit of searching may be able to get them for a bit less too, saw some sets for the £300 mark few weeks back. will have a nose and see whats about!
theyve tweaked the design a little for '11 with double red spoke over valve hole and some slightly different graphics on the rims, but over all a Great fast spinning light wheelset!Timmo.

just wandering how the hubs are on these though? heard stories about them dying??0

and have you run them tubeless with the tape?

hubs are good, no issues at all with mine, there are a few pages on the net about them but not many, the hubs have steel inserts on several of the splines to strengthen them and avoid the cassette eating the hub body as is common on other wheelsets,
mine are tubeless, they come tubeless ready, and if you go for the AC tubeless valves they are annodized Red too! 8) 8) but no issues at all with tyres seating on them, (using hutchinson tubeless)Timmo.
