Local Ride - Llantrisant Forest aka Smilog

Hi,

I'm local to Llantrisant and have heard good things about a trail in the Smilog Forestry, was wondering if anyone is local to that area and has given it a go?

What's it like?

    Llantrisant forest is okay for a 'one stop shop' there's a few good ways down the mountain but no traverses or technical climbs. Easy enough fireroad to the top so you can max out on the better known routes down.

    There's a reasonable loop if your novice or unsure about the techy descents - straight up the fire road, after the pond on your right head right along the ridgeway to the edge of the forest, and right again down the mountain, and pick up the bridleway back to the car park.

    If you're not so green you can loop up a good ride including Llantrisant, Billy Wynt, Tyn Y Coed, Garth and Gwealod.

    hi mate, have a look in the rides section and the south wales rides thread. there's guys from all over south wales and we get out regulary. i think a few of them ride at smilog aswell :D
