Welcome to the 29er club.
You won't go back0 -
Thanks John, but this is my 4th 29er and I have a 5th 29er frame on its way. Which model have you got?
Ohhhhhhh bugger.0 -
was thinking on getting the steel version, like it, went for the monkey in the end, welcome to 29er world like the previous post you'll never go back.
the kinc in the seat tube is no way as servere as mine haha0 -
Seat tube is bent!0

Yeehah, that was how it was designed, to allow for the tyre to pass the frame but giving better mud clearance. You had me worried then thinking I had damaged the bike.
Stealth/ john, you are both bang on the money regarding 29ers, but there is so much negativity around on other forums about them which I tend to ignore. All I know is that after 21 yrs of mountain biking and owning several different kinds of bike, this one ticks all the boxes for the type of riding I am currently doing.Ohhhhhhh bugger.0 -

Like you I've got 5
Too many to list,
I've still got a 26er as well for trips to the shops or locally with the dog.0 -
Ive just got the 2 now but will be swapping the Haro Mary XC for a Scandal slot drop out very soon. How long have you been running 29ers John?Ohhhhhhh bugger.0
-
Since 2007 and never to go back to mini wheels0
-
I feel the same way, as the reduced rolling resistance offers a more controlled ride over stutter bumps and rocks etc. Coupled with the fact that a frame in my size in 26" wheel format looks like a nine bar gate missing its hinges unlike the 29er which in my opinion looks just right.
What size frame do you have John?Ohhhhhhh bugger.0 -
Cool looking bike and yes, the new bars look much better!0
-
Great looking bike, very nice build....what are your thoughts on the ride differences of Ti v steel?0
-
Ti takes out the trail sting as steel would, but with reduced weight and the practicality that if the frame gets knocked, a quick once over with a piece of Scotch Brite and it looks like new again.Ohhhhhhh bugger.0
-
I would like to see the bike with some dirt on it because I don't think you ride it?0
-
Thanks mate, I do ride it ,but normally around the puddles and not through them. However I did venture out last week end and got it dirty and took a pic as evidence.
It would have looked far worse if there hadn't have been so much standing water.
 :shock:Ohhhhhhh bugger.0 -
Youve forgotten to put any gears on2014 Whyte T-129S0
-
I couldn't afford gears Rich after I paid for the frame and I don't seem to be able to multi task either.Ohhhhhhh bugger.0
-
I only noticed the seat tube was bent after you sat on it matey. :shock:Ohhhhhhh bugger.0
-
-
Ironic really that you are selling a Scandal and I have just purchased this........
Ohhhhhhh bugger.0 -
I've seen that floor and rug before!
The frame looks great/shiny and will make a smashing bike and will probably be lighter than your TI.
Look forward to seeing the finished project!0 -
Cheers Mate, I would offer you a go but you may suffer with an extreme case of vertigo. :shock:Ohhhhhhh bugger.0

You have now managed to give me a complex about my height. With comments like that and other comments from people like Tazz referring to my DINKY Scandal, I am now on the look out for a MEDIUM 18" not Small 16" frame to prove to the world than I am 5 9" and can ride a medium 29er!0
-
Do like the look of this and it's got me thinking as I've never had a Ti frame or a 29er yet. Seems to me that many people are still experimenting to find their ideal setup for a 29 frame, with them being relatively new.
What kind of riding do you do mostly? I see lots of 29ers with rigid forks, but for technical singletrack with steep (but short) ups & downs would it be better to run a sus fork?
Does anyone know if On-one are bringing out a new version of this? I can't see any mention on their site.Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

Supposedly the new scandal frame will have drop outs you can swap around single speed and geared, its due soon.
I couldn't run a rigid fork for what I do, always a bit of travel upfront:D
If your looking for a cheap 29er please see below0 -
I ride mainly around Cannock Chase which is flowing singletrack with root drops etc. I run a set of suss forks which are set at 80mm which with the larger wheel feel like 100mm. I have also ran it with rigid forks as well when the ground is softer through winter which also saves wear and tear on the internals of your suss fork.
On One were planning to bring another Ti 29er out around this time of 2011, but as you say there doesn't seem any mention of it on the site.Ohhhhhhh bugger.0 -

Don't underestimate the power of Scandium frames and the cost differences! Salsa, Niner and some of the older On One's use the stuff. Very light and as flexy!0 -

Ok, You've got my attention  I've owned GT, Giant and Specialized alloy framed 26ers in the past and whilst all being great frames, they've all been as stiff as....Steel was a revelation for me, so are you saying the scandal can replicate the similar "springy, lively" feel as a steel frame?0 -

I'm saying that Scandium is a very good alternative to the more expensive Titanium. I have had a TI frame but in 26" and I found it not as good as the Scandium ones! Chainslapp should be able to give you a good report back when he sticks his On One frame together. The only problem with the new Scandal frames are that they are 100% Aluminium and not Scandium.
I found this earlier regarding the new On One ti frame arriving soon!
