Just got some New Recon Gold RL's today. I know this is a noob question, but I am still a relative noob so bear with me..

On the left fork there is a dial on the top which is a rebound adjuster? and a little knob on the bottom with a totoise and a hare picture..

So what do these 2 things actually do in detail?? So I can actually use them properly! haha

thanks guys!

    manual read.

right leg compression/lockout and the lower one is the rebound. preload on the left if coil.

Yeah thanks for your reply, I had that manual with the shox... But it doesn't actually explain what those bits are and what they are for..

It's a coil shock.. I know the top one is a pre load adjuster, and the bottom is rebound, but what does that actually mean?? Really sorry if i'm sounding really think right now!!

It would just be nice to know exactly what that does so I can adjust it to my ride style..

It does explain in the manual! Which bits are you stuck on?

Page 6 onwards explains the preload, rebound and motioncontrol with lockout.

thanks alot for your answers so far guys.. greatly appreciated.. wow the rebound adjuster makes a mahoosive difference... what would you guys recommend as a good setting for it? fast or slow rebound?

Aim for around 25% sag, though the adjuster is for small changes only. See how it feels.

Same with rebound! Set in the middle, go ride. Does it feel 'stodgy'? Back it off a bit. If it rebounds too lively, add some more! Same with the compression dial, use this to tune out fork dive when braking and bobbing.

Basically just experiment - we all like different settings.
