Yes I have one and I like it :D

Wednesday last week whilst out on only my second ride it I heard a strange noise and thought my chain had slipped, looked down and the chain was fine. Finished my ride, got home and heard a odd noise coming from my bottom bracket.

Next day I took the bike to Halfords, they told me that it appeared I'd thrown a bearing in the bottom bracket and I'd have to leave the bike with them. One week later the bike is still there and the replacement BB still hasn't been shipped to Halfords!

Apparently the BB had become oval shaped. Whaddya reckon, a manufacturing or fitting error? And is a week too long or should I cut them some slag because of the Bank Holidays?

Is it being replaced under warranty? If not, any decent LBS should have a BB in stock and can fit on the spot. If you;re running Sram, then you need a GXP one. They aren't expensive.

And yes, Bank Holiday slows everything down!

When my gear lever broke on my Team, Halfords checked their delivery system and could see the replacement would take a while, so they kindly took one off a display model.

They should be able to tell you when the stock will arrive. If you consider it too long then suggest they take it off one of their display models.
  • Yep it's a warranty repair. And so it should be I only had it 10 days!

When I spoke to them earlier today they confirmed it's FSA BB30 (I've read there have been issues with these, although I'm not suggesting mine issue is similar to the recall) and they are still awaiting the delivery or the part they've ordered.

As for removing one from a display model, nah, I'd rather have a new one and not one that's been fitted to a bike, removed and then fitted to my bike.

So that's two Bank Holiday weekends without the Boardman. Luckily I have another bike but that's not the point.

I'd want a new bike after something failing after only 10 days.

What kind of quality control is that? sheeeesh. Bad luck fella. Keep on to them to get it repaired and back to you.
