My 4 month old bike's rear wheel sounds like a metal grinders. sound's like its the rear hub. any way to fix or should i start looking for a replacement.

Bike is Cube Agree SL
Hubs are Easton Vista SL on Easton Vista SL wheels.

Bike has seen a few rains which required a full wash off along with a few My friend thinks i have screwed up the hubs by washing them out.

So looking for advice:
can it be fixed?
can it be replaced?

Easiest way to find out is to open the hub up and have a look.

This video on bike tutor should give you a head start:

If you open it up and it just needs grease and new bearings, then no problem. An easy job you can take care of.

But if you open it up and the inside of the hub is badly gouged or scored, then you'll need to look for a new one.

    Regards,

Its a brand new sparingly used bike ... thought of dismantling it isn't really appealing

May not be appealing but could possibly save a hub and a load of beer tokens! Not a hard job to do and handy to know how to do for future servicing.

    Have a look at this:

Sounds a simialr type of problem but with different wheels. Mine are ProLite.

My LBS dismantled it, re-greased it and reassembled it within 20 mins. Charge £10. I do know him so if you are a stranger to your LBS it they might cahrge a bit more.

Meantime contact whoever sold you the bike and raise it as an issue.

Can a hub be washed out with anything less that a power washer?
