There are a couple of sections where its just more practical to get off and use a different set of muscles than hold it on the lowest gear bobbing over wooden steps, cut in the path. Its not a sign of weakness its just faster if you get off and push.

Where are there wooden steps on the route!?

I'm not disputing the merits of walking, just that "I had no problems on any hills" suggests to me "I rode everything".

Be a bit like saying that I rode the Fort William DH on my road bike, I had no problems at all, I just had to walk all the bumpy bits.

within the first 5-10 miles there is a climb up the side of a hedge next to a field the trail is about 5' lower than the connecting path which takes you to the top. There are probably about 3 or 4 hills that are faster to walk up, either due to the way they are disconnected or the proximity of gates. I.e. you go through a gate, climb a 50m flinty trail and come to another gate. Hardly worth getting on again for that sort of thing. It has nothing to do with bike, ability or fitness, its just the most practical way of dealing with it.

Nope, and I'm only kidding really, but I'd certainly not say it's quicker to walk bits ;-)

njee is a racing snake type. Won't even deign to ride with our bunch as we are a useless mob. Have seen his colour co-ordinated lycra clad bunch ready to take off in the carpark, followed by much whooshing and sonic booms.

Woah woah woah, that's not true at all CD! I've ridden with Popstar, and I'd definitely be up for a ride with you guys, I keep an eye on London Calling to that end!

I'll try and keep sub-sonic for at least the first climb!

Now I understand. After being subjected to that even I wouldn't want to ride with us.
