Beginner / Intermediate Routes around Gloucester ?

Hi all,

Just taking up this mountain biking lark and am looking for somewhere close to gloucester that I can go of an evening, nothing too industrious as my first ride on Monday fried my calfs :lol:

Something beginner/ intermediate would be perfect, I like the wooded trails with little jumps and roots etc but please..not too much uphill yet :lol:

I heard about Cranham woods which is not too far away but after looking at this forum tonight I have found that there are now police signs up banning bikers so any other local suggestions please...(within a couple of miles max if poss)..

    Hi there Lee,
    I wouldn't worry too much about the "fine" poster.
    Bikers have been up and around cranham for years.
    There's some new landowners at the top of buckholt woods towards birdlip,
    They're not the friendliest of people towards mountainbikers but it's been discussed on another mtb forum, there's not a lot they can do, bar escorting you off their land.
    In the 2+ years I've been riding up there (cheeky and non cheeky trails) all the walkers and horse riders I've met have been very friendly and polite.
    Anyway, have a ride up and explore there, there's tons of trails in them woods.
